MISSION STATEMENT AND
CODE OF CONDUCT
The image and reputation of any sporting club is vital to its success and this is reflected in the club’s standing in the cricket world and community at large.
The Newport – Digman Cricket Club will look to establish itself as the club of choice for players looking to participate in cricket at all levels from junior through to senior level.
Our Mission Statement defines who we are and what we stand for. Our Code of Conduct sets the standards expected of all members and guests of the club so that our Mission Statement goals can be met and adhered to.
All persons representing the Newport-Digman Cricket Club are expected to conduct themselves in a manner which reflects our Mission Statement and to abide by the standards defined in the Code of Conduct.
The club considers that:
· Once a player takes the field to represent NDCC, that player has accepted our Code of Conduct.
· Once a non-playing member enters our clubrooms, they have accepted our Code of Conduct.
MISSION STATEMENT
NDCC intends to establish its reputation as a successful cricket club within the Western Suburbs based on success and exemplary sportsmanship on the field, and in the highest standard of management, player and member support off the field.
We will achieve this by:
· Promoting, advancing and fostering the game of cricket, predominantly in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne.
· Maintaining senior and junior teams and striving to achieve the highest development possible for each individual
· Promoting junior cricket and fostering the development of all young players.
· Provide an environment which encourages personal growth, achievement of association and team spirit by fostering an understanding of the natural evolution of individuals from:
- Dependency - (someone else can do it). Through to,
- Independence - (I can do it). Through to the most rewarding stage of,
- Interdependence - ( We can do it)
· Provide the best facilities and human resources available to develop the talents and capabilities appropriate to the level and wishes of teams, players and helpers.
· To protect and ensure the long term future of the club through proper financial management
· Provide a social outlet for men, women and children of all ages in a friendly, family atmosphere.
· Encouraging a sense of pride in the history, heritage and values of the club and its members by maintaining contact with all past and present members.
· Establishing a set of policies, procedures and guidelines that future Boards and committees can use as a benchmark.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Players and members of Newport-Digman Cricket Club are expected to observe the following guidelines at all times whilst representing the club either on or off the field.
Any player or member who breaches the code can be subject to disciplinary action. This can take the form of a censure, warning or suspension/expulsion from the club.
Newport- Digman has established a sub-committee of 3 life-members who will form the disciplinary committee. Any decisions by the sub-committee will take the form of a recommendation to the general committee.
The following guidelines and standards form the Newport
-Digman Code of Conduct.
· Behave with honesty and integrity
· Act with care and diligence
· Treat everyone with respect and courtesy and without harassment.
· Verbal abuse or hostile behavior is unacceptable
· Members are expected to take pride in our clubrooms and respect the furniture, fittings and equipment. Prior to leaving the rooms, members must ensure the area they (and/or their guests) have used is clean and tidy.
· Members are responsible for any visitors they introduce to the club.
· Attend functions in a responsible manner.
· Treat sponsors and their premises with respect
· Provide leadership to and mentor all our younger players.
· Unsportsmanlike behavior is unacceptable
· Playing members are expected to wear the correct cricket attire including Club cap/hat, club shirt and correct footwear.
· Make umpires, officials and opposition players feel welcome when they are our guests at the end of the day’s play.
· Members are expected to respect umpires, opposition players and officials.
· Members are expected to respect our club officials and other members.
· Play a part in the operation of the club
